Pakistan and Bangladesh will want to get some momentum going before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy, and a win in this warm-up game, or at least a nice work out in the middle, will do nicely.

The warm-up match will be held at Pakistan's home away from home in England – Edgbaston in Birmingham – and considering the support they usually get at the ground, expect a sizeable crowd to come and watch their stars in action.

Neither team are considered as the favourites to go far in this ICC Champions Trophy 2017, but they will want to show they are capable of making it to the semifinals, at least.

Pakistan's first game in the Champions Trophy proper is against their biggest rivals India, and to be best prepared for that game, they will want to get a really good hit out in the middle against Bangladesh.

"We have nothing to lose, we just want to play our natural game," Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed said. "We have just played a very good series in the West Indies, where the players performed very well.

"We are very hopeful of playing well in this tournament and we want to win it. It is a very exciting time for us, there have been a lot of practice sessions at Edgbaston and we're ready to play."

Bangladesh, now ranked No.6 in ICC's ODI rankings, are always a formidable unit in the limited-overs format, and they will want their big players – the likes of Shakib Al Hasan Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim – to find form and be in the best possible space going into the Champions Trophy.

The Tigers are coming off an impressive win over New Zealand in a tri-series tournament in Ireland – although they did lose the series to the Kiwis – and they will want to carry that momentum forward into their two warm-up games and then the three group stages matches of the 2017 CT.
