Bareily, Jan 06 (ANI): One of the two absconding constables accused of raping a minor girl at a police station in Badaun, has been arrested. The second constable accused of the crime is still absconding. The Uttar Pradesh's Special Task Force has been roped in to hunt down the accused. Constable Avanish Yadav was arrested when he was about to board a train for Delhi from Bareilly junction late Monday night. The horrific incident took place on New Year's eve when the 14-year-old girl had stepped out of her house to relieve herself. The girl's mother had alleged that she was abducted by constables Veer Pal Singh Yadav and Avanish Yadav. However, the accused constable denied all charges and demanded probe. Superintendent of Police, Bareily, Rajiv Mehrotra applauded the development in the case and said that the second accused will soon be nabbed. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for the victim.
