Finnish handset maker Nokia launched a low-cost camera phone, Nokia 108, on Monday. The device is said to be released in the fourth quarter in major global markets.

The new Nokia 108 phone, which will hit major global markets in the fourth quarter, will be released in single-SIM and dual-SIM models. The device will be priced $29 (around ₹1,850), making it the one of the cheapest handset to boast of a camera on it.

During the launch, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia, Timo Toikkanen said, "We continue to connect millions of people, including those for whom mobile phone ownership was previously out of reach, There remains a huge segment of the global population that has yet to own a camera phone. For the next billion people and beyond, we aim to bring new mobile experiences to ever-lower price points, and the Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM are great examples of this commitment".

The new budget phone, Nokia 108, sports a 1.8-inch QQVGA LCD display with 160x128p resolution and runs on Nokia's Series 30+ platform. It flaunts a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera with 640x480p resolution, fixed focus and 2X zoom. The phone also boasts of a high capacity BL-4C battery which can run the device (single-SIM) close to 31 days on standby mode and up to 13.8 hours of talk time (the battery gives 25 days back time for dual-SIM model on standby time).

Shortly after its global launch, Nokia 108 (dual-SIM) was listed on the company's India website under the 'Coming Soon' tag. The handset will initially arrive in red, white and black models and will be later released in yellow and cyan-hued phones.
