TVS is gearing up for the next big launch, the 200cc version of the successful Apache RTR series. Much of the information was leaked and the motorcycle was snapped several times while testing under camouflage, but the launch date of the vehicle was not certain.

A report in CarBlogIndia claims the launch will take place on 20 January. The company reportedly wants to pay full attention to the launch of BMW G 310 R jointly developed by TVS that is rumored to be launched at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. Hence, the launch of Apache 200 early in 2016 is expected to give breathing space for TVS between the most important two launches in 2016.

The Apache RTR 200 will be powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine that is expected to churn out 25-30bhp of power. The cooling system for the engine is sourced from BMW Motorrad.

The design will be inspired from the Draken X21 concept that TVS showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It will feature a razor sharp design with chiseled edges. The new Apache will employ telescopic front forks, while rear gets mono shock suspension. All-digital instrument cluster, LED tail lamps and split seats are the other additions.

The reports also indicate Pirelli tyres, which is known for its superb grip in recently-launched Mahindra Mojo, will be optional. There will be a regular model and an ABS equipped variant on offer.

Additionally, the Apache 200 will get a pair of sleek indicators, clip-on handlebar and headlamp with LED daytime running lights to enhance the sportiness. The motorcycle will be pitted against the KTM Duke/RC 200 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
