In August 2015, TVS Motors Chairman Venu Srinivasan hinted at the arrival of the new Apache and two more products in a span of six months. The new Apache is widely considered as the RTR 200, and the motorcycle has been caught testing a couple of times in the previous months.

The latest batch of spy shots from Motoroids gives more information on the motorcycle. The images give a clear picture of the instrument cluster of the Apache RTR 200. The digital instrument cluster will come with a tachometer, digital clock, a gear position indicator and a service reminder icon below. The speedometer sits at the centre of display with a fuel indicator below to it. There are no indication lights of ABS in instrument cluster, which cements the speculation of ABS only as optional in Apache RTR 200.

The Apache RTR 200 will be powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder four-valve liquid-cooled engine that is expected to churn out 25-30bhp of power. The cooling system for the engine is sourced from BMW. BMW and TVS are in alliance for sub 500cc motorcycles.

BMW seems to have played a pivotal role in shaping the Apache 200. The design will be inspired by the Draken X21 concept TVS showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It will feature a razor-sharp design with chiselled edges. The new Apache will employ telescopic front forks, while the rear gets mono-shock suspension. The LED tail lamps and split seats are the other additions.

Additionally, the Apache 200 will get a pair of sleek indicators, clip-on handlebar and headlamp with LED daytime-running lights to enhance the sportiness. The motorcycle will be pitted against the KTM Duke/RC 200 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
