Pandavar Ani spearheaded by Vishal and Nasser defeated three-time winners Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi at Nadigar Sangam elections on Sunday, 18 October.
With this, Nasser is set to become the new President of Nadigar Sangam, Vishal will take over the position of General Secretary, Karthi will be the new Treasurer, and Karunas and Ponvannan are the new Vice-Presidents of the artistes' guild.
Pandavar Ani registered the win with a narrow margin. Nasser secured 1344 votes, while Sarath Kumar got 1231 votes. Likewise, Vishal earned 1445 votes and his rival Radha Ravi received 1138 votes.
The 2015 Nadigar Sangam election will go down in the history as a fiercely contested polls where bitter war-of-words were exchanged between Sarath Kumar's team and the Pandavar Ani. The election for the the actors' artistes guild have always taken place peacefully but this time it created quite a stir.
The newly elected office bearers have been welcomed with highly positive response on the internet, and twitter has been flooded with congratulatory messages from fans and celebrities.
