Popular indigenous smartphone maker, Micromax, on Monday, officially launched its big screen 5.7-inch handset - Canvas Doodle 2 - for ₹19,990.

Commenting on the launch, Micromax, CMO, Shubhodip Pal said, "Canvas Doodle 2 further builds our promise to empower our consumers with devices which help them express their imagination and creativity with their smartphone like never before. We are swiftly moving forward in our pursuit of being the number one smartphone player in India, and Canvas Doodle 2 will further consolidate our surge to the top position in smartphone market."

Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 sports a mammoth 5.7-inch screen with HD 1280x720 display resolutions. It runs on the Android v4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS, powered by a MediaTek (MT6589) quad-core processor with 1.2GHz CPU speed.

The new phablet houses 1GB RAM, 16GB in-built memory and flaunts a 12.0-megapixel main camera on the rear side and a 5.0-megapixel secondary camera on the front side.

Even though Canvas Doodle 2 is the most expensive Micromax handset to date, it is still cheaper compared to MNC-branded Samsung's Galaxy Note and Mega series as well as Sony's Xperia Z Ultra phablets. Considering the fact that Indian market is price sensitive, Micromax has a chance to increase its market share in this niche 5.0-inch plus, display-based smartphone business.

The brand new Micromax phablet has been on sale at online stores-FlipkartSnapdeal and Infibeam - for ₹19,990, even before it was officially launched.
