Indian smartphones makers are beginning to raise their stature in the home country in the face of stiff competition from MNC brands. Micromax, particularly, has shown a remarkable improvement in its brand value and market share.

The company last month registered record sales of its flagship Canvas HD A116 smartphone seeing that its stocks ran out within 15 minutes of its debut online.

Market research firm Precision Match in its survey titled 'Mobile Handsets Market Insights', has revealed that Micromax beat technology giants such as Apple, BlackBerry, HTC, Nokia and other MNCs in terms of most searched mobile brand on the internet.

Precision Match's reports showed that South Korean company Samsung stood first as top mobile brand with 31 percent of the total searched views, followed by Micromax, Nokia, Sony, HTC and Apple. Micromax's Indian counterpart Karbonn also made it to the top 10 phone brands in the subcontinent.
