Lailat al Qadr, also known as the night of decree or the night of power, marks the eventful period when the Holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammad.

For Muslims across the world, the last 10 days of the holy month holds a special significance as it was on one of these days, ahead of Eid ul-Fitr, that God sent his angel Gabriel to reveal his holy words to the Prophet Mohammad. [Watch Live Streaming from Mecca and Madinah]

Lailat al Qadr, also known as Laylat al-Qadr or Shab-e-Qadr, is observed on the night of the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th day of the holy month. Lailat al Qadr 2015 will be observed on 13 July. [View Live Prayers from Mecca

According to Islam, prayers made during Lailat al Qadr are better than thousands prayers made on any other day as this is the day when angels descend to the earth. [Watch Live Prayers from Madinah]

During the night of power, the Muslims spend whole night praying and reciting verses from Koran. In Mecca and Madina, the two holy Islamic sites will hold special prayers the whole night for Lailat al Qadr. [Watch Taraweeh prayers Live with English translation]

Eid ul Fitr 2015 will be observed on 17 July in Most Muslim Countries, Say Moon-Sighting Bodies. It is likely to be held on Saturday in India.
