Mammootty is now taking a step ahead as producer. The actor has decided to have a mass release for his upcoming film, "Varsham".

The makers will now release the much-expected film in more than 400 theatres worldwide on the same day, unlike the usual trend of Malayalam releases, which have a staggered global release.

"Varsham", directed by Ranjith Shankar, will be released on 6 November by Mammootty's Play House Release. The movie will have a worldwide release in many countries including the UAE, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Singapore.

The trailer and the songs of the film are already released and all Malayalam movie-goers are eagerly waiting for this family entertainer to hit the theatres on Thursday.

The story of the movie revolves around a business man Venu played by Mammoootty and the challenges he faces in his life and the rift he has with the antagonist, Manvalan Peter, essayed by veteran actor TG Ravi. The film spans through five stages of Venu's life, in which Mammootty will be seen in five different get-ups.

"Varsham" also has Asha Sarath, Mamtha Mohandas, Govind Padmasurya, Sunil Sugatha, Sudhir Karamana, Harish Perady, Jayaraj Warrier, Irshad, Sajitha Madathil, Sarayu, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Sreelatha Namboothiri, Vinod Kovoor and Shabin in pivotal roles.

The promotional activities of this family entertainer were much noticed for its unique way. The film had kick-started its campaign by adopting environment-friendly posters in canvas instead of plastic flexes. The songs were also released in a different way when "Varsham" song became the first Malayalam song to be released through WhatsApp.

The story, the screenplay and the dialogues are written by the director himself. The cinematography is handled by Manoj Pillai and edited by Sagar Das. The music is composed by Bijibal and the lyrics are penned by Santhosh Varma and Jayageetha.
