Mammootty and team release the theme song of the film along with 10 selected kidsFacebook/Ranjith Sankar

The theme song of Mammootty's upcoming film "Varsham" is released. The song, which begins with the lines "Karimukilukal" was released by Mammootty and 10 children who were specially selected by the star.

The actor chose the kids through an online contest where he had asked his fans to post their kid's photo as Facebook comments. The contest was open only for kids who are under 10 years of age.

The soulful song "Karimukilukal" is composed by Bijibal and is sung by well known music director Sharreth. The lyrics are penned by Santhosh Varma and the song features almost all the major characters of the film.

The first song of the film, "Koottuthedi" was released on 18 October through the mobile messaging app WhatsApp, joining the likes of Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year"and Aamir Khan's "PK". Mammootty had asked his fans to post their numbers on his Facebook page, out of which 10 numbers were selected, and they received the song directly through the app.

"Varsham", directed by Ranjith Sankar is touted as a family entertainer. The film also has a huge star cast of Mamta Mohandas, TG Ravi, Govind Padmasoorya, Sunil Suhada, Irshad, Sudheer Karamana, Sajitha Madathil, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Sreelatha Namboothiri, Hareesh Peradi, Vinod Kovoor, Sarayu, Jayaraj Warrier and Shabin in significant roles.

Expectations are high for this film as Ranjith's last release "Punyalan Agarbathis" was a box office success and was noticed for its fresh yet simple narrative style.

The makers of "Varsham" are now set to hit the theatres on 6 November. The film is produced by Mammootty under the banner of Play House Release.
