Hindus all over India are in a festive mood as the nine-night long Navratri (Navarathri) festival, to be celebrated to worship Goddess Durga, will end on the tenth day of Ashwina shukla paksha, according to the Hindu calendar.

Durga Ashtami (Durgashtami), also known as Maha Ashtami (Mahashtami), is celebrated on the eighth day of Durga Puja celebrations. It is one of the most important days of Durga Puja.
