Consumer electronics giant LG today unveiled the much-awaited big-screen smartphone Optimus G Pro in Seoul, South Korea.

"The Optimus G Pro was developed specifically to deliver vivid and superb picture quality in a large display smartphone form factor," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. 

"We will continue to expand our position in the premium LTE smartphone segment with our superior display technology and unique user experience," he added.

The new phablet Optimus G Pro runs on the Android's updated Jelly Bean 4.1.2 OS powered by the Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 600 processor.

The Optimus G Pro boasts of an advanced UX features such as Dual recording and virtual reality (VR) panorama developed specifically for the device. The dual-recording feature allows users to capture videos with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously for a picture-in-picture experience.

VR Panorama feature allows shots of entire horizontal and vertical environments for a full 360-degree view.

The company has not mentioned price of the device but, LG has confirmed that the new Optimus G Pro will be first released in the home country, South Korea this week.

LG Optimus G Pro will be showcased at the upcoming international mobile convention MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2013, which is scheduled to be held at Barcelona, Spain next week.
