LeEco, formerly known as Letv, is hosting a smartphone launch event in New Delhi on 20 January. The Chinese company has partnered with Facebook to live-stream the event to nearly 10 crore people in what is seen as the widest social media-based coverage.
LeEco is expected to launch two Le Superphones — Le Max and Le 1s — on Wednesday to mark its India debut. The launch event kicks off at 2 pm in New Delhi and fans can-live stream the event online through EeEco's official Facebook page.
"For the Grand Launch of our Le ‪#‎SuperPhones we'll be co-working with Facebook to bring you a live stream of the whole event, (sic)" the company said on Facebook.
LeEco, even before it entered the Indian market, garnered a lot of attention from fans in the country. LeEco's Facebook account has nearly 1.5 million followers, 95% of whom are active users, a Times of India report revealed. The Chinese company secured 1.4 million likes without officially entering India. Thus, LeEco's plans to partner with Facebook to live-stream the event make complete sense.
LeEco plans to launch two new smartphones on Wednesday that will target the affordable smartphone segment in India. Le Max and Le 1s, which have already been launched in China, will be showcased at the Le Future event.
LeEco recently launched the 3D Helmet virtual reality headset, LeMe Bluetooth headphones and Internet-connected Super Cycle in India, which are likely to be on display at the event. The company did not share pricing details of these products, which may be revealed during the Le Superphones' launch.
