The grand finale of Malayalam entertainment channel Mazhavil Manorama's highly-rated reality show "Ugram Ujjwalam" took place on 10 May.
South Indian actress Khushboo Sundar who was the chief guest, was pleasantly surprised by the performances of the six groups that reached the finals of the adventurous show.
While Karate Family from Kozhikode, led by Manoj Mahadevan and Bindu Manoj, won the first prize of ₹10 lakh, Bengal Tigers, led by Abu Saleh, won the second prize of ₹5 lakh, followed by Prakash Palluruthy-led Great Millennium team that won ₹3 lakh. Veliyam Rajesh's Shiva Dance Group was in the fourth place.
The Karate Family's performance, in which a vehicle passed over Manoj Mahadevan's body 50 times, helped the team win the title this year.
Khushboo, who couldn't open her eyes during the stunt, announced the winners along with the show's other judges Bala, Poornima Indrajith and Sudha Chandran.
The finale was attended by Nirapara Group Vice-Chairman Biju Kannan, Meriiboy Ice Cream Managing Partner Joseph M Kadambumkattil and Tasty Nibbles Managing Director Cheriyan Kuriyan, among others.
During the finale, Khushboo also launched the upcoming reality show "Made For Each Other", hosted by actress Abhirami for newly-wed couples, which will be aired on Mazhavil Manorama at 8 pm from 11 May onwards.
