Grenades were hurled at a patrolling party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday injuring a jawan and seven civilians.

The terrorists managed to flee after the attack at Bona Bazaar in Shopian, around 50km from Srinagar. The grenades exploded on the streets.

"The splinters hit seven pedestrians and a CRPF jawan," police sources were quoted as saying by the Chandigarh Tribune. The injured were rushed to a local hospital and are stated to be stable now.

The area has been cordoned off and search operations are being carried out by the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The attack comes as a fierce gunbattle stretched for over 24 hours between security forces and terrorists in Pampore at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) campus following an attack around 6.30 am on Monday.
