Ujjain, Nov 8 (ANI): Hundreds converge in the ancient city of Ujjain in India's central Madhya Pradesh to witness the buffalo fight, the main attraction organised on the occasion of 'Bhai Dooj' in which sisters pray for the long life and prosperity of their brothers and brothers vow to always protect their sisters.Villagers from far off places brought their bulls and buffaloes for the traditional festival. In the months preceding the festival, bulls and buffaloes are fed with rich fodder and reeds of long grass typical of the state's marshy land. The fight was organised to pay tributes to the local deities and to preserve the century- old tradition. The spectators were seen cheering and clapping in anticipation of an entertaining duel when the specially reared animals were brought to the arena. For centuries, the practice of bullfighting has been followed, wherein the two animals are made to lock horns, fighting for the honour of an area until one of them is pushed off the field.
