Emerging Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is reportedly planning to launch a couple of budget-friendly handsets in India on 8 May.

The company has sent invites to select media houses for an event scheduled on 8 May.

Huawei has not mentioned the significance of the press meet, but if FoneArena's report is to be believed, the company is expected to release its entry-level smartphone Honor Bee as well as another, Honor 4C, that was unveiled in China a few days ago.

Even Flipkart, Huawei's exclusive e-commerce partner, which sells Honor series smartphones exclusively has listed both the devices, Honor 4C (HERE) and Honor Bee (HERE), with the tag "Coming Soon", leading many to believe that the Chinese company will indeed launch both the handsets on Friday.

Huawei Honor 4C sports a 5.0-inch HD display and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS backed by the company's proprietary Hisilicon Kirin 620 series Octa-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and a 2550 mAh battery that can power the phone for close to 600 hours under standby mode.

Honor Bee features 4.5-inch FWVGA screen and ship with Android 4.4 KitKat OS, 1.2GHz quad-core Spreadtrum processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage, and 1750 mAh battery.

Competition:

Going by the specifications of Honor 4C and Honor Bee, they are expected to be priced around ₹9,000 and ₹6,000, respectively.

Once released, Huawei Honor 4C will compete with YU Yureka, Lenovo A6000 Plus, A7000, Lumia 640, and also its phablet sibling 5.5-inch Honor 4X.

On the other hand, Honor Bee is poised to take on Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen), Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000, and other domestic brands.
