Taiwanese smartphone maker, HTC has finally pulled the wraps off the long rumoured One (M8) Windows Phone at an event in New York City, USA.

"Consumers love the HTC One (M8) and today's introduction extends that enthusiasm to new audiences hungry for choice in their mobile experience," said Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC Americas.

"The HTC One (M8) for Windows is true to the flagship product's award-winning design and unique experience while also taking the best of what Windows Phone has to offer," said Darren Laybourn, corporate vice president of engineering, Microsoft.

As speculated before, the new Windows Phone OS based HTC One M8 packs all the hardware specifications seen inside the flagship Android variant. It flaunts critically acclaimed sleek zero-gap Unibody made of Aluminum (90-percent metal) with 5.0-inch full HD (1,920x1,080p) screen on the front.

It is powered by 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 128GB) and a 2,600 mAh battery, which can run the device for up to 24 hours of talk-time and close to 387 hours under standby mode.

As for software is concerned, the new HTC One M8 variant ships with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 Update, which incorporates intuitive digital assistant - Cortana, Action Centre, Apps Corner, and Live Tiles. Cortana, Windows' exclusive voice assistant is adept at setting calendar appointment and also offers the ability to proactively warn you when it's time to leave for your next appointment or remind you to pick up milk on the way home.

The new device also boasts the state of the art – Ultra-Pixel technology based 'Duo Camera' on the rear side with depth sensor similar to the one we see in the original Android model and also packs a 5.0-megapixel full HD front camera with wide angle lens, which will certainly please the selfie enthusiasts.

The company has confirmed that HTC One (M8) Windows phone has been made available for sale (both online and on brick-and-mortar stores) for $99.99 (around ₹6,075/€75) with two-year contract and $599.99 (around ₹36,500/€451) without contract in USA via Verizon Wireless,

However, the details regarding whether the new flagship phone is to be released in other global markets in near future is still under wraps.
