Erotic thriller "Hate Story 3" is witnessing a smashing box office run in India. After registering a good opening day, "Hate Story 3" has put up a decent opening weekend at the domestic box office.

The three-day (opening weekend) box office collection of "Hate Story 3" stands at Rs 26.82 crore.

"#HateStory3 puts up a SOLID weekend total. Fri 9.72 cr, Sat 8.05 cr, Sun 9.05 cr. Total: ₹ 26.82 cr. India biz," box office analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Directed by Vishal Pandya, "Hate Story 3" features Zarine Khan, Karan Singh Grover, Sharman Joshi and Daisy Shah in lead roles and despite starring an ordinary cast, the three-day box office collection of the film is better than films starring big cast.

"Hate Story 3" earned more than what Deepika Padukone's "Piku" and the Hindi version of Prabhas starrer "Baahubali – The Beginning" did in its three-days. "Piku" earned Rs 25.22 crore, while "Baahubali" minted Rs 22.35 crore.

However, it remains to be seen whether "Hate Story 3" will maintain its hold at the domestic box office like "Piku" and "Baahubali" to take its lifetime box office collection to a decent figure.

Meanwhile, the erotic thriller has turned out to be a successful franchise for the makers. "Hate Story" and "Hate Story 2" were successful and "Hate Story 3" also followed the same footsteps.

The film earned its production cost in just two-days run from the domestic box office.

"#HateStory3 has cost ₹ 6.5 cr make. Plus, ₹ 6.7 cr for print + advertising. Total cost: ₹ 13.2 cr... SUPER HIT in terms of economics," Adarsh had tweeted on Saturday.

Following the success of the film, the makers are now planning the fourth installment. Director Pandya said that they will start working on "Hate Story 4" by next year-end.

"Plans for 'Hate Story 4' have already started. It will be made.. maybe we'll start next year-end. I want the audience to digest all the scenes or dialogues that I had showed in this film. They'll need at least a year for that. If I give them so much, I don't know what they'll end up doing.

"So planning but before that I'll be doing another film with (producer) Bhushanji and after that I'll start 'Hate Story 4'," said Pandya, according to IANS.
