Friendship Day 2016 is round the corner as the world is set to celebrate the occasion on Aug. 7 (Sunday). The occasion of Friendship Day marks the beautiful and strong bonding among friends.

It is generally celebrated by exchanging friendship bands, partying with friends, sending messages and greetings among other things. However, Friendship Day can also be celebrated by watching some of the best Hindi movies based on friendship.

Although "Sholay" is one Bollywood film that instantly crosses our minds when we think about Hindi movies based on friendship, there are a host of other new-age films as well that one can watch with friends.

Bollywood has till date produced several films showcasing the strong feeling of friendship. While some of those have a funny plot, some others are serious in nature and there are a few which take a romantic turn too.

"Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara": Starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, this movie is all-time best to bring out the strong bond of friendship. The film also features Katrina Kaif and Kaki Koechlin, among others.

"Dil Chahta Hai": Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna-starrer "Dil Chahta Hai" is one film that truly shows what friendship means and is a must watch on this occasion.

"3 Idiots": This superhit movie includes a lot of humour and at the same time offers some important life lessons apart from beautifully showing the bond among three friends played by Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharmam Joshi. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Boman Irani also play key roles.

"Rock On": Starring Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli, among others, "Rock On" has a relatively serious plot, but it is very high in terms of friendship. It can definitely be a good watch.

"Rang De Basanti": Although this multi-starrer also has a serious storyline, the film has abundant dose of various emotions like humour, romance and bonding. This is undoubtedly one of the best films in Aamir Khan's career.

"Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na": This Imran Khan and Genelia Deshmukh-starrer has a storyline that is likely to match with almost everyone's lives. It is simple, easy to connect with and entertaining.

"Student of the Year": This happens to be Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra's debut movie. The film shows love and friendship among three friends and had received good response from the audience.

"Kai Po Che": It is a much critically acclaimed film starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh. This film shows that friendship stands above every other thing, including religion.

"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai": This Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji-starrer is one of Bollywood's biggest hits. It is strongly based on the concept of friendship, along with love.

"Mujhse Shaadi Karogi": Starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, this movie highlights how one can pretend to be bad with a friend just to make him or her a better person.
