Republican front runner Donald Trump made an embarrassing gaffe when he referred to the tragic 9/11 incident as 7-Eleven, a chain of convenience stores in the US. Trump was addressing a rally in Buffalo, New York, on 18 April when he made this irrevocable mistake.

The GOP candidate, who is known for his oratory skills, possibly confused the date of the 9/11 terror attacks with the popular American chain — that is home to the Big Gulp and Slurpees.

I wrote this out, and its very close to my heart, Trump said, addressing the crowd. Because I was down there and I watched our police and our fireman down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Centre right after it came down. And I saw the greatest people I have ever seen in action.

The unfortunate slip of the tongue garnered all the more attention because of the timing, as soon after Trump proceeded to laud the New York values. Though the Republican candidate has not commented on the situation, his mistake might cost him before the New York primary, where he is expecting a major win.

To add to this, this wasnt the only oratory hiccup made by Trump during the Buffalo rally. Earlier during his speech, while thanking the Buffalo bills coach Rex Rayan, Trump incorrectly congratulated the former Jets coach for championship wins in New York — which clearly didnt happen.

The horrifying incident of 9/11 — when terrorists struck the World Trade Center in America killing thousands — has featured time and again in Trumps speeches as he campaigned in his home state. Despite this Trump glitch, the crowd seemed to let this incident slide. The internet, on the other hand, was a different story altogether. Many took to Twitter to express their opinions.

Never forget 7-Eleven:Donald Trumps latest gaffe elicits big gulps from viewers, tweeted one user.

Another Twitter user wrote: If this is a medical emergency, hang up and dial 7-Eleven.
