Computex 2015: Asus Unveils 3 New Snapdragon Powered Zenfone 2 Variants with Laser Auto-Focus Camera

Asus has reportedly launched three new Zenfone 2 variants with Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs (System on Chip) at the ongoing Asian consumer electronics trade fair Computex 2015, Taipei.

Though the company hosted a glitzy presentation to unveil brand new series of Transformers notebooks, ZenWatch 2, ZenPad 8 (& S) series tablets and pro-camera smartphone Zenfone Selfie, it has discreetly launched three new Zenfone 2 models- ZE600KL, ZE550KL and ZE500KL.

Technology blog Mobile Geeks has confirmed that Zenfone 2 ZE600KL comes in three sub-variants sporting 6.0-inch HD, 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080p) and another with 5.5-inch HD display. They are all powered by the 64-bit Class Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 series Octa-core processor with 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB inbuilt memory and 3000 mAh battery.

On the other hand, Zenfone ZE550KL flaunts a 5.5-inch HD screen and ships with less powerful Snapdragon 410 series quad-core.

Zenfone 2 ZE500KL is the smallest among the newly launched smartphones. It features 5.0-inch display and houses Snapdragon 410 series chipset, 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB memory.

Notably, all new Zenfone 2 series devices ship with advanced 13mp camera on the rear-side boasting Laser auto-focus feature.

For the uninitiated, this laser based auto-focus feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions. LG G3 (2014) and recently launched G4 (2015) and Asus' very own Zenfone Selfie are the only tier-1 branded smartphones in the industry to house this feature.

As of now, there is no word on when Asus would make Zenfone 2 models-ZE600KL, ZE550KL and ZE500KL available in global markets. We will update these details as and when it develops.
