Nextbit Robin in India gets regulatory approval: Shipping begins next weekNextbit Media Kit

Popular American technology start-up Nextbit is reportedly planning to launch the company's first smartphone Robin India next week.

Earlier this month, the company (via Twitter) announced that they received the regulatory approval to sell phones in India, but refrained from revealing when the Robin sale will officially commence.

Now, Nextbit has begun sending invites for a May 25 event in India. It is expected to announce the official release and price details of the smartphone.

For the uninitiated, Nextbit Robin was originally unveiled in the U.S. in 2015 for $399 (around €354/Rs. 26,603). The USP of the device is that users will get free 100GB cloud storage, and the phone whenever connected to Wi-Fi Internet automatically syncs (with encryption) apps, videos, images and other forms of data in to the cloud storage. The company has incorporated light system with four LEDs on the device's back with a cloud image to indicate the phone is undergoing syncing process.

As far as hardware is concerned, Nextbit Robin boasts 5.2-inch full HD IPS LCD screen, Android Marshmallow-based custom Nextbit OS, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory and a 2680mAh battery.

It also houses a 13MP camera with dual-tone flash, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and a 5MP snapper on the front.
