Considering his contributions and love towards children, Children's Day is celebrated in India on 14 November on the birth anniversary of the first Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Nehru, who was fondly called Chacha, loved children, perceiving them as the future of the country. Schools across the country conduct special functions on Children's Day, during which kids dress up like Chacha Nehru in his trademark outfit with a red rose in the buttonhole.
While many countries observe Children's Day on 1 June, Universal Children's Day is celebrated on 20 November.
