Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has described the Champions League final against arch rivals Real Madrid as the biggest game of his life. The former Liverpool and Chelsea player is a boyhood Atletico fan, but has yet to win a trophy while playing for the club.

The 32-year-old said, To me it means everything. Everything you dream when you are a kid. I will have the chance tomorrow to make this dream come true, so Ive been able to play for great teams and of course for the Spanish national team and won many things, but this one is special, its different.

Torres has experienced success in Europe before, winning the Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea, and two European Championships with Spain as well as the World Cup. But the striker admitted that these would pale in comparison with a win for Atletico on 28 May.

He added, I fight too much to have a place in the team and I fight a lot to score goals again and be an important player for the team. So tomorrow is the game of my life without a doubt.

Torres made his debut for the Madrid club in 2001, and went on to captain the team before leaving for Liverpool in 2007. He returned to the Spanish capital in 2015 on loan from AC Milan.

In his absence, Argentinian coach Diego Simeone transformed the club into a major force in Spanish football. The fiery manager led the team to the La Liga title on 2013, and the Champions League final a year later, where they lost to Real Madrid.
