Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS Update Rolled Out to Xolo Q800 via OTA: ReportREUTERS

Indian smartphone maker Xolo on Tuesday released the Jelly Bean OS update for its dual-core Xolo A800 smartphone which currently runs on Android v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The new Android v4.1.1 Jelly Bean OS update is now available for download through the company website. Since the update file size is 191.56MB, users can download it through computer and transfer it to the smartphone using a USB cable.

Here is a simple process of transfering the Jelly Bean update zip file to the Xolo A800 smartphone: 

  • Download the zip file from the Xolo Website to a computer and make sure the file is saved as 'update.zip' (warning: do not unzip the file).
  • Connect the smartphone to the PC via USB. Make sure the device is identified by the computer.
  • Transfer the zip file from the PC to the phone memory. Once the transfer of data to the handset is complete, disconnect it from the computer.
  • Open Xolo Care app on the phone and check for software update. Continue with the installation procedure as the phone directs you.

The new Android v4.1.1 Jelly Bean update will enhance the smartphone's performance thanks to project Butter. It also improves the interface and bluetooth data transfer through Android Beam. One of its new features is the voice search app.

Xolo A800, which was launched in December 2012, sports a 4.5-inch LCD qHD display and packs a dual-core processor with PowerVR SGX531 graphics engine.
