Assam, Dec 04 (ANI): Endowed with rich natural resources and suitable climatic conditions, the Northeast region provides a perfect environment for the cultivation of vegetables and fruits. While it has huge potential in horticulture production, the region has to depend on other states due to lack of good quality seedlings. In a move to be self-reliant, the first of its kind agri hub nursery was inaugurated at the horticulture farm on Assam Agriculture University campus in Jorhat. It has been developed at a cost of Rs. 15 crores financed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana. The nursery will annually produce 48 lakhs seedlings of various vegetables and seasonal flowers. This new project will give a huge boost to production and ultimately help in generating more income for the farmers.
