Dense fog enveloped New Delhi on Wednesday, leading to a delay in the departure of about 30 flights, 65 trains and at least 70 trains have also been cancelled on Wednesday.

According to India Meteorological Department, the visibility at 8:30am was 150 meters as the temperature came down to 5.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning, The Times of India reported.

The extremely low visibility due of the dense fog forced the Railways to reschedule at least eight trains scheduled to depart from Delhi, while arrival of at least 57 trains was delayed too.

About 60 trains were delayed, 40 were rescheduled and 12 were cancelled on Tuesday, when Delhi chilled at 6 degrees Celsius.

The weather is expected to remain same in the coming days, but the fog may clear after Christmas as the national capital will witness hazy sunshine ahead this week followed by clear sunshine next week, according to AccuWeather forecast.
