Zhang Yixing aka Lay, a member of South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO, celebrates his 25th birthday on October 7. He will be treating his fans by releasing his solo track, titled What U Need?

The song, which was written and composed by the young singer, will be unveiled at 12pm KST through various musical platforms. While the Korean version will be released through various music charts, the Chinese version will be unveiled through popular music group Ali Music.

The solo track is produced by Devine-Channel. It is described as a medium tempo track with a funky pop groove and a trendy rhythm, according to Soompi.

Informing the release of his solo track, a representative of Lay revealed that it will be his birthday treat for the fans.

"While preparing for his solo debut, Lay will reveal the new song 'what U need' on his birthday, October 7, as a gift for all the fans who are waiting for his solo debut. It is a birthday present for all of you," he wrote on the Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo.

The young heartthrob will also perform the song on stage during the Asia Song Festival 2016, which will be held at Busan in South Korea on October 9.

Last year, the Lotto singer treated his fans with a semi-autobiography, titled Independent 24, in two versions including a limited edition version and the original version. It featured 24 important moments in the singer's life.

Born in Changsha village of Hunan province in China, the K-pop star was very keen about dancing at a very young age and won third prize in a dancing competition organised by Star Academy in 2005.

Zhang Yixing was discovered by entertainment agency SM Entertainment through a global audition in 2008. After several years of training, he was introduced as the main dancer of the group.

Apart from being an active member of EXO, Lay has been involved in various reality shows, including Yue Ce Yue Kai Xin and Na Ke Bu Yi Yang.
