Television actress Mihika Varma, who played the role of Mihika on popular show "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein," was recently in news when reports of the actress quitting the show surfaced. According to a latest report, the makers have finalised Avantika Hundal to play the new Mihika on the show.

Avantika, who was last seen on television show "Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya" and had been part of a Punjabi film as well, would be returning to the small screen after a gap of four years. "Yes, I am the new Mihika. I was busy doing Punjabi films. I wanted to take up something on TV and this one piqued my interest among other offers. I wouldn't know much about the upcoming track as I am yet to be briefed. All I can say is that I won't be sporting grey hair to look older and won't be playing a mother. I will also be watching a few episodes to understand the character," Avantika told the Times of India.

Soon after Mihika quit the show, Sonal Parihar replaced the actress and had also shot for a few episodes. But later, the makers decided to rope in Avantika to play the part. The production house reportedly took the decision to replace the actress as they felt Sonal didn't quite fit the character of Mihika.

It was earlier reported that as "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" was taking a seven-year leap, actress Mihika was reluctant to age on-screen, hence she chose to take the exit route. "The show recently took a seven-year leap and while most of the important characters have stayed back, Mihika said that she doesn't want to age on-screen. She has put in her papers and the makers have already started looking for her replacement," a source had told the Times of India.

Meanwhile, post-leap, the show has been revolving around Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi) and Raman (Karan Patel) who are leading separate lives. While Ishita lives in Australia, Raman resides in Delhi along with his and Ishita's surrogate child Pihu (Ruhaanika Dhawan). Also, Ruhi, who lives with Nidhi (Pavitra Punia), has grown up to be a tomboyish teenager and a successful musician. Nidhi had renamed Ruhi as Ruhaan.
