The rumour mills have been abuzz with the features and the expected launch of the upcoming R25, but now there is something new to add. The latest word on internet suggests that Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha is looking to expand its scooter portfolio in India with the launch of a new scooter called D'elight.

GaadiWaadi reports that Yamaha could launch its new 114cc scooter D'elight in the country with a price tag of ₹49,000-55,000. Yamaha D'elight, a scooter which is already being sold in a few international markets, is powered by a 114cc 4-stroke engine that capable of generating 7bhp power and 7.6Nm of peak torque. The major USP of D'elight scooter is its light weight body and its engine which can give a 125cc-class performance.

If Yamaha brings D'elight scooter to India, the model will be pitched against the current front runners in the 125 cc segment which includes, Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access and Piaggio Vespa.

Currently, Yamaha's Indian portfolio includes Fazer, FZ-S, FZ, SZ-X, SZ-R, SZ-RR, YZF-R15 V 2.0, SS125, YBR 125, YBR 110, Crux, Ray, Ray Z and Alpha Scooters. If rumours are to be believed, by next year, Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts will also have Yamaha R25 to choose from.

Speaking of features, R25, the India-bound version of the stylish bike R25 is expected to come with 250cc liquid-cooled, in-line, four-stroke, two-cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 36bhp, 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 22.1Nm at 10,000rpm. In terms of dimensions, Yamaha R25 measures 2,090mm in length, 720mm in width, and 1,135mm in height and has a seat height of 780mm.

The bike will be brought to India as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) and is likely to get a price tag in the range of ₹2.5-3 lakh.
