Xiaomi has long been accused of illegally using Apple's device design on their products; now, the Chinese technology firm is reportedly working on a laptop which looks like a clone of the iconic MacBook PC.

Technology media house Gizmo China got hold of the first-ever images of Xiaomi's Mi-series laptop. In the pictures, the design language of Xiaomi Mi laptop and the recently launched MacBook Air is uncannily similar.

Sans the bright orange hued Mi-Logo below the display, the device's exterior body, the tapering edges at the corners and the front-camera module placement are all strikingly identical to the Apple computer. [To view picture, click HERE]

Xiaomi laptop is said to sport a 15.0-inch full HD (1080p) display and house the latest Intel Haswell SoC (System on Chip) series Core i7-4500u CPU powered by the Linux OS with custom Xiaomi UI. Other specifications of the device are yet to be ascertained.

And like all Xiaomi devices, it is estimated to be priced at ¥2999 (around $482/€397/₹30,700), less than half the cost of Apple MacBook Air (based on configuration, prices start from $900).

As of now, Xiaomi is yet to comment on this. Until the company comes out and clears the air over the rumours, this report will remain as pure speculations only.

More from the stable, the Chinese company is reportedly working on flagship dual-edge curved display smartphone Xiaomi Arch.
