Xiaomi Rival Meizu Set for Debut in India; Tipped to Announce M1 Note Release Details Next Week

It's been more than a couple of months since Chinese smartphone maker Meizu opened the official India page; and now, reports have surfaced online that the company is ready to launch a new product next week.

Meizu (via official Facebook page) has tipped fans to announce the release of a new device on 18 May. Though there is no word on the name of the device, many believe it to be M1 Note, as it has been featured in most of the posts published on the company's Facebook page.

The company's Facebook wall post reads: "Are you ok? 5.18 see! see! – J Wong (founder)," indirectly taking a pot shot at rival Xiaomi boss Lei Jun.

For the uninitiated, the phrase "Are you ok?" was first popularised by Xiaomi chief Lei Jun, when he visited India for the first time last month to launch Mi 4i.

Xiaomi co-founder's heavily accented awkward phrase went viral in India and China. It invited both the mockery and also praises for Lei Jun for going out of his comfort zone to speak English to exhibit his entrepreneurial abilities.[See video, HERE]

Coming back to the topic in hand, Meizu's M1 Note is said to be sold via both online and brick-and-mortar stores to make it more accessible to the consumers.

Meizu M1 Note sports a 5.5-inch full HD screen and runs on the forked Android based Flyme OS powered by the 64-bit class MediaTek Octa-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB in-built memory, and a 3140 mAh battery.

On imaging front, it houses 13.0-megapixel Samsung camera with 5-element lens, 4X digital zoom, 300-degree panoramic lens and other photography enhancing features. To appease selfie aficionados, the company has incorporated 5mp OV5670 camera with 4-element lens, f/2.0, 69-degree wide-angle lens, Face AE light boost technology, and FotoNation smart selfie enhancement.
