If you are out in the market shopping for a new smartphone, there are plenty of options worth considering. Especially if you are looking for something under Rs.10,000, you will have a hard time narrowing down to that one device you should probably buy.

Xiaomi welcomed a new budget device in India, Redmi Note Prime, to bring worthy competition to the affordable handsets in the market. There are plenty of devices such as Lenovo K3 Note, Meizu M2 Note, Coolpad Note 3, and others that offer a great price-to-performance ratio. In this article, we are going to compare Xiaomi's Redmi Note Prime with the likes of Meizu M2 Note and Coolpad Note 3 to find out which device is worthy.

Display

All three devices feature 5.5-inch screens but vary in resolutions. Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime features a HD IPS LCD screen with 267ppi and looks identical to the 2014 Redmi Note model. Coolpad Note 3 display also packs 1280 x 720 pixels resolution with 178-degree viewing angle and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Meizu M2 Note, on the other hand, offers improved visuals with its Full HD screen and 1920 x 1080 pixels and 401ppi.

Clearly, Meizu M2 Note has a better advantage over its rivals.

Camera

The primary cameras in all three phones are made of 13-megapixel sensors and the front cameras equip 5MP sensors. Despite same sensors in all three phones, there are other aspects that play a vital role in the quality of the shooting. Coolpad Note 3 primary camera has an f/2.0 aperture lens, while Redmi Note Prime has f/2.2 aperture, which is the same as Meizu M2 Note. Lower the aperture size, better the quality.

Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime offers additional features such as touch-focus, face and smile detection, HDR and Full HD recording. Coolpad Note 3 has a 5-element HD lens. Both phones have LED flash, whereas Meizu M2 Note has a dual-LED flash setup along with blue glass IR filter and 5-element lens.

To get a clearer picture of the quality of the cameras, we need a firsthand review. However, as per the on-paper specifications, all three phones have identical cameras with almost equal quality of photos and videos.

Processor and RAM

This is a very important feature if you are seriously considering a good performance. Meizu M2 Note is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor and Coolpad Note 3 packs a similar 1.3GHz 64-bit Mediatek MT6753 octa-core chipset. Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC.

Comparatively, MediaTek MT6753 performs better than Snapdragon 410 and in this case Coolpad Note 3 rules with its 3GB RAM accommodation compared to 2GB RAM in the other two devices.

Storage

All three phones in this comparison have 16GB expandable memory. Meizu M2 Note offers support for up to 128GB microSD cards, while Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is limited to 32GB microSD card support.

Battery

Meizu M2 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime have 3,100mAh battery units, while Coolpad Note 3 comes with a tad smaller 3,000mAh unit. You can expect all the phones to give you a decent battery life.

Price and availability

In terms of availability, Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is available for Rs. 8,499 on Amazon India. Coolpad Note 3 is also Amazon-exclusive and sells for Rs. 8,999. For that extra amount, Coolpad Note 3 offers a fingerprint scanner, which gains an edge over other two phones that lack the security feature. Finally, Meizu M2 Note is listed as currently unavailable on Amazon India but it is expected to be priced around Rs. 9,000 going by its Chinese pricing.
