A Xiaomi device understood to be the rumoured Redmi Note 2 has been spotted at a certification agency website, just days ahead of the company's launch event scheduled later this week.
Technology blog My Drivers, while traversing through the TENNA (a Chinese government owned telecommunication certification agency) website, has stumbled on Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, revealing key features of the device.
Apparently, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be released in two variants – one with GSM/WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE/LTE FDD network support for China Unicom, whereas the other unlocked model with GSM/TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE connectivity support.
Another key revelation from the website is that Redmi Note 2 will flaunt a slimmer body measuring just 8.05mm thickness compared to its predecessor that comes with 9.65mm thickness.
Redmi Note 2 is also said to come packed with 3,020mAh battery capacity, that's little less compared to its predecessor, which came with 3,100mAh cell. Many believe that the reduction in thickness might have forced the company to lower the battery capacity.
The revelation comes just days after the company announced to host an event on 17 July. Xiaomi had posted a cryptic image with letters 'PK' and the stem of letter K is animated into a slim phone having a shiny metallic frame, inciting speculations that the company might unveil the much-awaited flagship Xiaomi Mi5 on coming Thursday. Its predecessor Mi4 was launched a year ago, on 22 July 2014 to be precise).
But, this is contrary to recent reports that indicated Xiaomi had postponed the flagship Mi 5 launch to November this year. For now, we have no choice, but to wait for a few more days to know what Xiaomi has in store for us.
Other expected features of Redmi Note 2:
As per reports, Redmi Note 2 will keep 5.5-inch screen size of its predecessor, but its resolution will be bumped up from HD (1,280px720p) to full HD (1,920x720p).
Under the hood, it is expected to house either 64-bit class Mediatek (MT6795) CPU or Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB storage capacity.
