The Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi is all geared up for the Redmi 1S flash sale, which is about to kick-off on Tuesday afternoon at Flipkart.
Buoyed by the overwhelming response for the last one month, the company has replenished the inventory with 60,000 Redmi 1S units, 20,000 units more than the previous flash sales.
Despite keeping 40,000 Redmi 1S units, double the stocks of Mi3 flash sale, the company got trolled by angry frustrated fans via social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter), as the flash sales have gotten over in less than five seconds in all the three flash sales since 2 September.
The company has been blamed for not learning lessons from Mi3 flash sale fiasco, where it could not bridge the gap between demand and supply; many opined that Xiaomi could have taken a leaf out of Motorola's marketing strategy of releasing Moto G (Gen 2.), with more than 140,000 units stocks on the sale day.
Now, Xiaomi seems to have made the right move by increasing the stocks of Redmi 1S, but this seems a little late as we know Google's Android One devices (three brands- Micromax, Karbonn and Spice) got released last week, thus providing an alternative to consumers who so far had been unlucky to get their hands on the elusive Redmi 1S.
It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi (and Flipkart) be able to get same jam-packed consumer traffic on Tuesday, like the previous flash sales.
For the uninitiated, Xiaomi Redmi 1S cost just ₹5,999 and features- 4.7-inch IPS LCD screen with 720x1280p resolution, making it the cheapest HD phone in the Indian market.
Under the hood, it comes packed with Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS (with custom MIUI), 1.6GHz Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB) and a 2000 mAh battery.
