Xiaomi is set to launch a new device from its Mi Note series. The new handset called the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is reportedly coming next week with several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Mi Note, which was released more than a year ago.

Release date

The Chinese technology giant is tight-lipped on the release date of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, but reports have claimed that it will be unveiled on Sept. 14. The device has been certified by Chinese CCC (China Compulsory Certification) authority but is yet to get TENAA certification.

It was earlier reported that the device would be released on Sept. 5 but that didn't happen.

Specifications and pricing

It is reported that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come in two variants -- one with a 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with a price tag of 2,499 Yuan, and the other with a 128GB internal memory and 6GB RAM priced at 2,799 Yuan.

The upcoming Xiaomi device is expected to feature a metal body, a fingerprint scanner, and a Force Touch support. It is expected to sport a 5.7-inch 2K dual curved display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, run an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system, comes packed with a 64/128GB internal memory and a 4/6GB RAM, mount a 12MP dual camera, and house a 3,600mAh battery with Quick Charge technology.

There is another contrasting report doing the rounds that Xiaomi's upcoming device will come in two variants – one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor+32GB storage+4GB RAM called the Mi Note 2, and the other with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821processor+128GB storage+6GB RAM called the Mi Note 2 Pro. It is also claimed that the device will feature a 16MP main camera with 4 axis OIS and dual LED flash, and powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that the Xiaomi Mi Note that was released in January 2015 sports a 5.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (386 ppi pixel density), powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, and runs an Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system. It also has a 16/64GB internal memory (no microSD card slot), a 3GB RAM, a 13MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, a 4MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3'' sensor size and 2µm pixel size, and a 3,000mAh battery.
