The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has come to Malaysia a few weeks after it was released in its home country China. It is the first time that the device has been made available outside China.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 can now be purchased in Malaysia on retailer DirectD. The 4GB RAM+64GB ROM variant is available for RM 1,499 (around $350 / Rs 22,600). There is no word on when it will be released in other countries, including India, but it can be taken as a hint that it could happen soon.
Both Xiaomi Mi Max and its upgraded version Xiaomi Mi Max Prime were released in India. So, it could be just a matter of time before the new Mi Max 2 comes to the country.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes in two variants -- a 64 GB model priced at 1699 Yuan ($247 / €220 / Rs 15,960) and a 128 GB variant priced at 1999 Yuan ($291 / €259 / Rs 18,780). It sports a 6.4-inch full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The Mi Max 2 runs on an Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
The device also comes packed with a 4GB RAM and 64/128GB ROM, mounts a 12 MP back camera with a Sony IMX386 sensor and dual-tone LED flash. The front camera features a 5 MP sensor with 85-degree wide-angle lens. The 5,300 mAh battery comes with Quick Charging v3.0 technology.
