Xaiomi fans must be upset over the delay of the much-awaited flagship smartphone. It was reported that the Xiaomi Mi 5 could be released along with the Redmi Note 3 and Mi Pad 2 at the company's event on Tuesday, but it didn't happen.

The Chinese smartphone makers unveiled the Redmi Note 3, Mi Pad 2 and Mi Air Purifier 2 on Tuesday but not the much-hyped Mi 5.

It may be recalled that the Xiaomi Mi 5 hit the headlines in July with reports doing the rounds that it would be released in August but it never happened.

Then there were rumours that it would be launched in September but it was not released.

So, everybody felt that the flagship device could be unveiled at Xiaomi's scheduled event on 24 November. Once again, the elusive Mi 4 successor didn't see the light of day as speculated, and now Xiaomi fans are left clueless as to when the device will arrive.

The company hasn't revealed anything about the next-generation device but reports have suggested that it could come by the end of this year.

It is reported that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be priced at around $399 (approximately Rs 26,500), sport a 5.2-inch QHD touchscreen with 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and come with features like a fingerprint sensor and Type-C USB port.

Under the hood, it is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, 32/64 GB internal memory and 4 GB RAM, 16 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), 5 MP secondary snapper and a 3000mAh battery.
