The future of most of the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" cast members is undecided as they set out to change the past to secure the future.

"This time because the future is undetermined, we have freedom to choose where we want to go with her," Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the role of Mystique, told The Hollywood Reporter about the future of her character. "Is she going to become the assassin that we know her as now, like Rebecca Romijn's character? Or is she going to do what Charles [Xavier] wants and go down the path of no killing?"

In "X-Men: Days of Future Past," the character of Mystique is expected to emerge from the shadows of both Charles Xavier and Magneto. A Screenrant report stated that she will carry out her own mutant agenda that has the power to wipe out mutants from the face of the earth.

A trailer of the film shows Wolverine assembling X-Men, so as to prevent the extermination of the world's mutants.

Mystique is undoubtedly one of the most interesting mutant characters and rumors have been afloat a while now that she might get a spin off "X-Men" movie.

"Days of Future Past" writer-producer Simon Kinberg is reportedly interested in such a film, but he is unsure if it would happen, according to Yahoo Movies.

"I have no idea if there will be a Mystique spinoff," Kinberg told Yahoo at a WonderCon presentation.

"She's great and there are so many different ways you could go with the character and a lot of story to tell," Kinberg said. "Part of the challenge of these movies we're talking about is to give everybody enough drama to play, so the notion of Jen being the lead in her own movie is interesting."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is slated for a May 23 release.
