Yet another World Environment Day is here with people across the globe planting saplings, cleaning the surroundings and water bodies and all other activities on a mission to "save our planet Earth." Ironically, the enthusiam lasts just for a day. The theme for this year's environment day, observed on June 5, is "Connecting People to Nature – in the city and on the land, from the poles to the equator."
Celebrities and politicians all over the world have been posting and sharing photos and messages on the importance of preserving our mother nature for the future generations. But the bigger question is "why do people preach this important lesson just on June 5 but return to routine of littering their surroundings from the very next day?"
American television presenter Bill Nye had once said, "Climate change is happening, humans are causing it, and I think this is perhaps the most serious environmental issue facing us."
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the World Environment Day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets: "#WorldEnviromentDay is the right time to reaffirm our commitment to protecting our environment and nurturing a better planet. This year's theme of 'Connecting People to Nature' is nothing but getting connected with ourselves. #WithNature [sic],"
