It's that time of the year when celebrities will be seen flooding Karan Johar's residence as he turns 42 on Sunday, 25 May.

The producer-director is known to throw one of the lavish parties in the Bollywood circuit which sees the presence of major personalities. But this year Johar's celebrations could witness the absence of some prominent names.

Shah Rukh Khan has been a very close friend of the filmmaker over the years and the two are known to share a strong bond. But this time the actor could possibly miss out the event as reports of tension between the celebs are rife. Khan is said to be snubbed with Johar over his recent friendliness with the former's rivals, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. It should be noted that SRK, who has been a regular in the director's chat show "Koffee with Karan" in all these years, failed to appear on the season 4 of the show.

Hrithik Roshan is another person who could give a slip to the party for the obvious "Shuddhi" fiasco. The "Krrish 3" actor left Johar in lurch after he opted out of the director's ambitious project. The actor's health condition has been cited as the main reason for his departure. But it cannot be ignored that the filmaker is still struggling to find the perfect male lead even after months of Roshan's exit.

Johar's favourite and very close friend Kareena Kapoor also may not be seen at the party for similar reasons. The actress was earlier signed for "Shuddhi" but she had to regrettably exit the project after Roshan's ouster and this is said to have created an uncomfortable situation between Kapoor and Johar as the actress was quite keen to be a part of the film. Also the actress' delivery of dud "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" is said to have added the distance between the two.

Imran Khan, who had once been Dharma production's blue-eyed-boy, is another actor, who is said to have fallen apart from Johar. Recent reports had reasoned that the poor fate of Imran's films with Johar's banner is said to have caused the rift between the two. Hence, there is a strong possibility that the actor might avoid the bash altogether.

Also Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Johar's childhood friend Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar would also miss the bash since they are all out of the country shooting for "Dil Dhadakne Do."

Also whether the director's close friend and newly married Aditya Chopra makes a presence with his actress wife Rani Mukerji remains a big question.

Meanwhile, actress Kajol could turn up for her dear friend's special day but sans her husband Ajay Devgn. The "Singham" actor as known to all shares just a formal relation with the director unlike his wife and generally he keeps away from such events.

Having crossed out the above names, young celebs like Ranbir Kapoor, Ayan Mukerji, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapoor who have been often spotted with the director, are expected to turn up for the birthday bash. It remains to be seen whether Salman and Aamir, the director's recent superstar friends turn up on his party.
