As per Prem, "Kali" has multiple meanings and he is inspired by the Hindu epic Mahabharatha. He admits that there have been many films based on it and this is his version on the subject. He also has plans to release a book on the story.

Prem claims that it is Kamal Haasan, who suggested him to come out with a book. The director adds that he took eight months to write the story, and 18 months to complete the film, which is said to be a period film.

However, sources say that the shooting will only commence once Prem comes up with a convincing script for Shivaraj Kumar and Sudeep. By January, there will be clarity on the film's progress.

On the other end, Prem had added that the film will have extensive CGI works and he has plans to outsource the graphic works to Hollywood technicians.

Prem is yet to reveal about the female leads of "Kali". But he has promised that there will be four actresses in the flick.
