Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is no doubt one of the most popular budget smartphones released this year, which has reportedly been doing particularly well in its home country China, and India. It has been reported that the Chinese technology giant is planning to come out with the successor of the device, and several details, including specifications have been leaked, but they don't hold much waters.

According to a recent report by TimesNews, the Chinese telecom equipment certification authority TENAA has certified a new Xiaomi device with model number 2015115. It added that the device with fingerprint scanner on the rear is believed to be the successor of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

Interestingly, the new device (with model number 2015115) has been spotted with a 5.5-inch TFT full HD display with 1,920×1,080 pixel resolution, a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor (likely to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC), and an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on TENAA. It has also been spotted with features like 149.96×76.06×8.69 mm dimension, 165.91g weight, a 16GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card, a 2GB RAM, a 16MP main camera, a 5MP front-snapper, and a 4,000mAh battery. It is also expected to support 4G LTE, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi, and comes in gold, silver and grey colours.

However, the specification of the said device has indicated that it can't be the successor of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. There is no difference in features between the two devices except storage and operating system. In fact, the Redmi Note 3 has more storage.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has two models — the 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM model comes with a price tag of Rs. 9,999, while the 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 11,999.

The device sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density), measures 150x76x8.7 mm in dimension, weighs 164g, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, and runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop based MIUI 7.0. It comes packed with a 16/32GB internal memory expandable up to 256GB via microSD card, a 2/3GB RAM, a 16MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture, and a 4,000mAh battery.
