Tao's career never seemed so bright. Ever since the singer left the Kpop band "EXO" to launch his solo music career, his phone has been busy with calls and messages from the media.

The star has been doing his bit by making media appearances and giving details about his new solo project. But it seems he hasn't been able to keep pace with the hectic schedule.

According to Allkpop, Tao, who recently released his new Chinese album, almost didn't turn up for an interview with the Chinese media outlet, Sina.

The interview, which was fixed earlier with Tao's team, was in danger of being ruined because the singer didn't show up for more than an hour after the appointed time.

Tao's lack of punctuality evoked criticism from Sina, which wrote on its blog that the singer's team notified the media agency very late.

Apparently, Tao's team sent a message saying the singer's hair and make-up was delayed as a result of which he could not make it on time.

"We're very busy, there are many outlets who are requesting for exclusive interviews,"  Sina quoted Tao's team as saying.

Allkpop reported that the issue gained traction as local celebrity Wang Sicong used his Weibo, the Chinese micro blogging site, to highlight the singer's impunctuality. According to Allkpop, Wang criticised the singer for not respecting others' time.

However, Tao's manager clarified that the singer was not responsible for the delay. "It wasn't Tao's fault. Due to our mistake, Tao is being misunderstood."

The singer's first mini solo album titled "Z.Tao" is doing well, with more than 670,000 copies reportedly being sold in its first week. The album was launched on 22 July, and the singer is scheduled to perform a string of concerts in China.
