The death of American singer Whitney Houston has left her family and music lovers around the world devastated. However, sources said that the singer knew that she was going to die and had reportedly told her friends that she "wanted to see Jesus".

According to TMZ.com, Whitney turned very spiritual - started quoting the Bible and sing gospel songs in the days leading up to her death, making many believe that she had a premonition about her death. She wanted to spend the last few days of her life in her Lord and savior.

 Whitney reportedly performed the song "Yes Jesus Loves Me" at a nightclub in Hollywood on Friday and told one of her friends, "I'm gonna go see Jesus ... I want to see Jesus."

According to TMZ.com, the singer discussed a bible passage with her friends on the morning of her death, and the gospel passage was from St. Mathew that talks about the Baptism of Jesus. "You know, he's so cool ... I really want to see that Jesus," she reportedly told her friends.

48-year-old singer Whitney Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel room on February 11, 2012. The cause of her death is still not known though speculations were doing the rounds that she might have died after taking prescription drugs and alcohol. "Pending Investigation" is what her death certificate says on the cause of her death.

A private funeral will be held for Whitney Houston on Saturday in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey and it will be broadcast live.
