A double-decker bus was blown up on Lambeth Bidge on Sunday 7 February as part of a stunt for a new movie, shocking some locals who took to social media to express their surprise at what they believed was a real explosion. The fireball was filmed for an action thriller The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.

Members of the London Fire Brigade were on standby and shared a video and photograph of the blast. Some Twitter users said how shocked they were by the explosion, including a mother who was enjoying a day in the park with her children:

The National Police Air Service tweeted: Noticed this on Lambeth Bridge as we passed. Got v worried until we realised they were filming!

Ahead of the explosion a notice was issued to those in the area warning them of the blast. It said a professional special effects team would be handling the stunt and asked people not to be alarmed.
