"Supergirl" is ready for some action to punch out the frustration of watching her crush Jimmy Olsen get back together with ex-fiancé Lucy Lane. Ironically, it is her romantic nemesis Lucy that brings it to her in a silver platter.
Kara (Melissa Benoist) is training with the DEO in Season 1 Episode 6 "Red Faced", when she is approached by General Sam Lane (Glenn Morshower) to help test out a cyborg that Army Intelligence has developed. He is, as fans might have already guessed, the father of Lucy Lane.
He has a deep disdain for the work that DEO does, and has brought Lucy along, who reveals that she has an executive order forcing Supergirl to comply with their demand. Although Director Henshaw (David Harewood) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) are opposed to Kara fighting the "anthropomorphic pseudo entity with combat capabilities", Kara agrees to the duel.
It is in fact Lucy's taunt, telling Supergirl "unless you don't think you're up to it" that more or less pushes Kara to take up the challenge. However, something goes wrong with the cyborg Red Tornado and it stops responding to the commands of the doctor that seemingly built it.
Red Tornado goes rogue and it is up to Supergirl to fix it. Moreover, she is stressed out by the Captain who claims that she is responsible everything that is wrong with Red Tornado.
In addition to the heartbreak of losing James (Mehcad Brooks) and carrying the burden of stopping Red Tornado, she is spoken to rudely by Cat (Calista Flockhart), making Kara loose her temper. Although she retracts her sentences immediately, Cat seems to be calmed down by this outburst. If it is the calm before the storm, we will find out when "Red Faced" is aired.
