Fans of Starz's "Outlander" can now watch the first episode of Season 2 a couple of days ahead of its premiere.

Starz has introduced a standalone streaming app that gives viewers access to all of the network's popular shows. Wi-Fi connectivity or a cable subscription is not required to watch shows through this app. However, a monthly rental of $8.99 will be charged. To celebrate the launch of the app, Season 2 episode 1 of "Outlander" will be made available on the app as well as Starz.com Thursday, reported TVGuide.

So what can fans expect in Season 2 of the series, based on Diana Gabaldon books? According to the cast members, Jamie and Claire will have a tough time before their relationship returns to what it used to be. In Season 2, Jamie will still be struggling from the events of Season 1 finale that saw him being raped by Black Jack Randall.

"There's definitely still some mental trauma there. The physical side he can heal. It's not modern-day life, so there isn't a psychologist he can talk to," Sam Heughan told TVGuide, adding that Jamie feels that he betrayed his wife Claire. "He did something that was out of his control. He betrayed Claire and he feels guilty about that. He feels that he can't be the husband or the man that he wants to be. He needs some sort of reconciliation," the actor said.

As for Claire, the character played by Caitriona Balfe, she feels helpless and somewhat responsible for putting Jamie in the situation that got him raped. "If you watch someone that you love go through something as horrific and traumatic as that, it can't help but affect you; the empathy that you would feel for the person that you love and the guilt as well, because you wish that you could take away their pain and you can't," Balfe explained.

"Outlander" Season 2 premieres Saturday on Starz. The first half of the season will see Jamie and Claire in France.
